scan0001

You can learn more about RCS PTO, our fundraising activities and upcoming events at the first PTO meeting of the year this week:
Wednesday, August 26 at 9:30 a.m. in the RCS Cafeteria.

Here’s what else is going on this week:

  • The Fall Spirit Wear sale ends on Wednesday, August 26. Don’t miss out on the great selection of Bulldogs gear!! We won’t have another Spirit Wear sale until the Spring!
  • Yearbook sales continue this week, through, October 26. Remember that we are only accepting pre-orders this year, so don’t forget to turn in your order form!
  • poppin popcornThe Poppin’ Popcorn/No Hassle Fundraiser wraps up Tuesday, September 1. Those of us who got to sample the Poppin’ Popcorn products can attest — they are delicious! But if popcorn is not your thing, or you prefer to limit the number of times you reach out to your friends and family for school support, don’t forget about the No Hassle fundraiser. We started this last year due to popular demand — RCS families who said to us, “What if I don’t want to buy anything but still want to help the school?” It’s literally as easy as writing a check to help the school and we are grateful for any and all support!

PTO Notes: Week of 8/17/15

jumping in
The first full week of school brings our first fundraiser of the year! We are trying something new, replacing the Entepoppin popcornrtainment Book fundraiser we have done in the past with a fun and delicious opportunity from a new company. Look for information about our Poppin’ Popcorn/No Hassle Fundraiser to come home in your students’ backpack this week. The PTO will be kicking off the fundraiser over lunch periods on Monday. If you have any questions, please contact Cinda Hansen.

Also ofyearbook note, we are doing something different with yearbooks this year. We are taking pre-orders at the beginning of the year until October 26. There will be no extra copies for purchase at the end of the school year. Order forms were sent home in the Bulldogs mascot folders. If you need an extra copy, you can download it here.

Other events this week:

  • The Fall Spirit Wear sale continues until August 26. Place your order online today.
  • Don’t forget to submit your PTO membership form — either online or to the school office — by September 11. And please take a moment to fill out the Volunteer Form that was sent home in the Bulldog mascot folder so we know when to reach out to you for help.
  • Curriculum Nights are held this week (Tuesday, August 18 for Kindergarten – 2nd grade; Wednesday, August 19 for 3rd-5th grade). These are great opportunities to meet your students’ teachers and hear about the year ahead. They are not PTO-sponsored events, however, and all communication will come from the teachers.
  • The first PTO meeting of the year is Wednesday, August 26 at 9:30 a.m. in the cafeteria.

Track-a-Thon, Popcorn Sales Postponed Due to Weather

windy clip art

Today’s windy weather forecast is not ideal for running outside, so we have rescheduled Track-a-Thon for Friday, April 24.

Our original “rain date” on the PTO calendar was Tuesday, April 28, but looking at the long term forecast next week’s weather isn’t promising either. This Friday was our best bet for getting in this fun, valuable event.

As a result, we are also postponing April’s Popcorn sale. We will let you know when/if we are able to reschedule it.

Please keep in mind that, while we try to plan ahead so all of our families can also plan ahead, all dates on the PTO calendar are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.

PTO Notes: March 2015

march

The school years continues to fly by and we find ourselves in March… already!! We have another busy month ahead of us at Robert Crown. Here’s what’s on deck:

  • Kindergarten Pre-Registration is Monday, March 2 from 6-7:30 p.m. Parents that have children who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2015, and who live within the boundaries of Wauconda CUSD 118, are eligible to register for the 2015-16 school year.
  • Our Spring Fundraiser also kicks off on March 2 and runs through March 16. This year we are trying something different, offering a catalog featuring flowers, bulbs and seeds that will be delivered in early May — in time for our regional planting season and Mother’s Day!flower-power
If you are not interested in the flowers, we are also offering a No Hassle option, where families can donate money directly to Robert Crown PTO. Through this fundraiser, we hope to raise $6,000 to purchase a new electronic sign for outside our school. The kids are especially excited about this fundraiser, because the top sellers in each grade level will get to help duct tape Mrs. Diol and Miss Picchetti to the wall! Look for information to come home in backpacks this week!
  • Otis Spunkmeyer cookie dough order pick-up is Tuesday, March 3 from 3:45-6 p.m. in the Cafeteria.

Robert Crown has a lot of heart!

valentines for veterans slide show

You may recall, we launched a new project this month, called Valentines for Veterans. With only a few days notice before going on a 5-day weekend break, the students and families at Robert Crown really took this endeavor to heart. We ended up with literally hundreds of Valentines for vets and active duty military, all of which were distributed by members of the Veterans R&R Youth Committee.

Click here for a slide show of pictures, featuring RCS students and the recipients of all of our goodwill and appreciation.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated! We are definitely going to make this an annual activity!!!
